1998 Lotus Elise S1
As the only street legal Elise S1 in the USA it started its life as a daily driver, but with the opening up of the rules in both HSR and SVRA it was converted to a race car and even featured on Safety Devices web site.
The series 1 Lotus Elise is powered by a 1.8 L Rover K-series engine. Using a Safety Devices FIA roll cage the car is prepared to the 1987 Lotus Elise Trofeo (Trophy) specifications. The Elise ran in HSR’s Street Stock Challenge (SSC). The location of the ‘Lotus’ logo is in homage to the scheme used for the Lotus Type 114 Esprit GT2 in 1995.
